Laura Malin

Founder and CEO

Laura is one of the top independent Brazilian development and content executives in the Los Angeles entertainment industry. She has cultivated a record of success as a consultant by representing production and distribution companies, as well as projects in Hollywood. In 2014, Laura established Malin Entertainment in Los Angeles. As the founder and CEO of the company, Ms. Malin best attributes are being a skillful writer, a team leader, a business executive with a growing list of highly rated media productions, and a strong familiarity with global business operations. Aside from the executive position and the screenwriting, Ms. Malin is also a best-selling book author with seven published books in Brazil. Laura has specialized in Writing and Screenwriting at UC Berkeley, while carrying a BA in Social Communications from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. Brazilian born, Laura was raised in Paris and currently lives in California with her two daughters.



Larissa holds a bachelor’s degree in Radio and TV and has worked as an audiovisual producer for several companies in Rio de Janeiro, such as Globo’s cable channels and also for the International Film Festival of Rio as an assistant to the international jury. She specialized in Reading and Textual Production. Also writes film reviews and is affiliated of ACECCINE (Associação Cearense de Críticos de Cinema), where she worked as jury in some film festivals, such as Cine-Ceará and For Rainbow Film Festival. Currently works managing social media content and eventually producing for events.

Mauro Malin

A journalist since 1966, Mauro Malin also became a historian in 1980, with a degree from the Sorbonne University (Paris). He worked as a reporter and editor in different media platforms in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro. Between 1999 and 2003, Mauro was the Communications Director of the American Chamber of Commerce of Brazil. He has also worked for the Brazilian Federal Administration and state government of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, as a Writer-in-Chief and a Senior editor.
Mauro was one of the founders of the Press Observatory (Observatório da Imprensa), a publication that served to analyze and qualify the Brazilian media content for more than 20 years.

Valeria Silva

Valeria Silva Jean-Baptiste is a producer and the founder of Dandara Productions, a company focused on casting and production assistance. Beyond hiring staff and crew and ensuring that the operation stays within its budget, the company is also responsible for setting the rehearsal and filming schedule, communicating with all of the key players, and troubleshooting any issues that might come up regarding cast, crew, or budget. She is specialized in Brazil/US co-productions, providing both American and Brazilian talent.

 Eleonora began her career with RCS Films and Television in Italy, where she held various acquisitions, distribution and marketing positions and eventually oversaw the company’s worldwide acquisitions and production from Los Angeles. She also worked as vice president and head of the acquisitions and co-productions division at Turner Pictures; and as acquisition consultant for United Artists.

Her Los Angeles-based company, EG&A (Eleonora Granata & Associates) integrates marketing, management, film co-production and acquisition, PR and film festival consulting for its clients. Among them are Screen Australia, Tribeca Enterprises, the Italian Film Commission of Los Angeles, and Tunis Film Festival as well as independent producers and talent on both sides of the Atlantic.

Elda Melo

Elda is a software engineer with 12 years of experience in development, modeling and creation of databases, software and websites. Over the years, she worked in different companies in Brazil and the US and helped build a number of systems and platforms that integrated systems from multi-national enterprises to cargo ship’s control of importation in one of the many Brazilian ports. She moved to US in 2015 in order to improve her English and expand her career range, and, since then, she started being part of numerous projects.


Jennifer van Sijll has an MFA from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and has taught screenwriting at UC Berkeley and SFSU. She is a seasoned script analyst and has contributed to 100 documentaries as a story editor and writer. Most recently she scripted the award-winning independent film, Ballerina: A One Woman Show, that won awards internationally.

She is the best-selling author of “Cinematic Storytelling.” Her book has sold over 150,000 copies, has been translated into 12 languages, and has been adopted by film schools worldwide.

She also worked for China Central Television in Beijing as a story editor and scriptwriter.

After a long career in medicine, Joana Lima decided to follow her lifelong interest in literature and film to pursue a second career in creative writing and entertainment. Her experience as a doctor, both in Brazil and in the US, allows her to navigate comfortably in the research and creation of medical content across various media formats. Moreover, she embraces the opportunity for in-depth learning of different subjects at every new creative project. As an associate content writer, her responsibilities include research, draft preparation, editing, proofreading and writing content in collaboration with the executive writer.


Alexandra Akira is a Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary General’s Office for Partnerships and the SG’s Youth Envoy.  She began her work with the United Nations in 2010 and has partnerships with all 57 United Nations Agencies including UNICEF, UNEP, WHO, UN Women and the Office of Legal Affairs for Oceans. She is also the CEO of Model UN Impact (MUN Impact) that supports all youth led engagement programs that simulate the United Nations through Model UN organized conferences. 

Alexandra attended the University of Connecticut and the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she resides.


Fernanda is a seasoned marketing professional that has helped companies in a wide range of segments to transform their communication through digital platforms for over 13 years.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Social Communication and Media Studies, a master’s degree in Production Engineering, Certifications in Project Management, User Experience, and Business & Management of Entertainment.


Seasoned Creative Director & Senior Brand Manager, with demonstrated success working in tech, entertainment, and retail. Skilled in building a creative team, developing brand strategy, art direction, and typography. Particularly strong in managing & growing creatives and project management.

Currently working as a business marketing project manager at Instagram, prior Ms. Takahashi was as director and manager of brand and marketing for three years at Google, and four years at Marris Collective LLC.

Kana has worked as a Motion Picture Graphic Designer & Art Department Coordinator at Fox Searchlight Pictures and Sony Pictures. As a senior graphic designer, Ms. Takahashi held positions at Aquent, Gap and Bare Minerals.
