Laura Malin, founder and managing parter

Laura is one of the top development and content executives in the Los Angeles entertainment industry from Brazil. By representing production and distribution companies, as well as projects in Hollywood, Laura has cultivated a record of success as a consultant. By writing, supervising development and production, maintaining productivity in a fast-paced environment, and building lasting professional relationships.

As a screenwriter, Laura is best known for the hit TV Series Turma do Gueto (3 seasons), which she created and wrote complete seasons; and Cilada (6 seasons), that she co-created. Both TV shows had local better rating than Friends in America, at 18 points. Ms. Malin has also worked in Angola, France and Portugal, creating, contributing and supervising TV series and films. An expert-level multitasker, she is used to managing multiple projects per year in film, TV and literature. Laura’s best attributes are being a skillful writer, a team leader, a business executive with a growing list of highly-rated media productions, and a strong familiarity with global business operations.

Aside from the executive position and the screenwriting, Laura is also a best-selling book author with seven published books in Brazil. Laura has a Masters in Writing and Screenwriting from UC Berkeley, and a BA in Social Communications from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. Brazilian born and raised in France, Laura currently lives in California.

Joana Lima, content writer and producer

After a long career in medicine, Joana Lima decided to follow her lifelong interest in literature and film to pursue a second career in creative writing and entertainment. Her extensive experience as a doctor, both in Brazil and in the US, allows her to navigate comfortably in the research and creation of medical content across various media formats. Moreover, she embraces the opportunity for in-depth learning of different subjects at every new creative project.

As an associate content writer, her responsibilities include research, draft preparation, editing, proofreading and writing content in collaboration with the executive writer.

Eleonora Granata, film festival and producer

Eleonora also worked as vice president and head of the acquisitions and co-productions division at Turner Pictures. She began her career with RCS Films and Television in Italy, a division of the RCS Publishing group that she was instrumental in creating, where she held various acquisitions, distribution and marketing positions and eventually oversaw the company’s worldwide acquisitions and production from Los Angeles.

As a leading international film industry expert, Eleonora recently served as acquisition consultant for United Artists, and currently oversees a number of film and corporate projects through her Los Angeles-based company, EG&A (Eleonora Granata & Associates). Founded in 2007, the firm integrates marketing, management, film co-production and acquisition, PR and film festival consulting for its clients. Among them are Screen Australia, Tribeca Enterprises, the Italian Film Commission of Los Angeles, and Tunis Film Festival as well as independent producers and talent on both sides of the Atlantic. Eleonora recently produced MEDEAS by Andrea Pallaoro, official selection of Venice Film Festival 2013; the feature film GALORE by Australian auteur Rhys Graham, official selection of Toronto Film Festival 2013 and the sci-fi adventure feature REPUBLIC directed by Yuan Chien -Wei. Eleonora is the head of the Russian Film Commission in the USA.

Jennifer van Sijll, screenwriting and creative consultant

Jennifer van Sijll is the best selling author of “Cinematic Storytelling.” Her book has sold over 150,000 copies, has been translated into 12 languages, and has been adopted by film schools worldwide. Jennifer has an MFA from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and has taught screenwriting for UC Berkeley and SFSU. 

Most recently she scripted the award winning independent film, Ballerina: A One Woman Show, that won awards internationally. She also worked for China Central Television in Beijing as a story editor and scriptwriter. She has been a featured speaker at Pixar, Nestle and Google as well as at screenwriting conferences globally. 

Ms. van Sijll is a seasoned script analyst, first learning her craft at Universal Studios. In total she has contributed to 100 documentaries as a story editor and writer including two recent documentary series for the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley. 

Valeria Silva
Valeria Silva, production and cast assistant

Valeria Silva Jean-Baptiste is a producer and the founder of Dandara Productions, a company focused on casting and production assistance. She specialized in Brazil / US co-productions, providing both American and Brazilian talent. The company’s tasks include: hiring director, casting director, crew, and other upper-level members of the project. Responsible for making decisions that may override the decisions made by others on your staff, including sometimes the director.

Budgetary Concerns: create a film, television show, or other project while working within the confines of a set budget. Responsible for determining how much the production should cost.

Beyond hiring staff and crew and ensuring that the operation stays within its budget, responsible for setting the rehearsal and filming schedule, multitasking within a fast-paced environment, communicating with all of the key players, and troubleshooting any issues regarding cast, crew, or budget. Also involved in auditioning and selecting cast members, and are often charged with scheduling any cast and crew meetings that take place during the duration of the project. Valeria is Brazilian, based in Los Angeles.

Natalia Aranovich, legal affairs consultant

Ms. Aranovich has several years of experience in practicing law and is an award winning lawyer. Her ability as a lawyer was recognized by the United States government when she received her extraordinary ability visa and green card for the work she did in Brazil in helping change the law in that country regarding conflicts between trademarks and domain names. In the United States she also received an award from the Board of Governors of the Beverly Hills Bar Association in September 2019 for the work done for the organization.

Ms. Aranovich is licensed to practice law in Brazil since 1999 and in California since 2016. In 2016 and after becoming licensed to practice law in California, Ms. Aranovich decided to combine her legal, marketing, branding and business skills to found Aranovich Law Firm in Los Angeles. Ms. Aranovich focus her law practice in business law, intellectual property, immigration, entertainment and personal branding strategy.

Mauro Malin, senior editor and research specialist

A journalist since 1966, Mauro Malin also became a historian in 1980, with a degree from the Sorbonne University (Paris). He worked as a reporter and editor in different media platforms in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro. 

Between 1999 and 2003, Mauro was the Communications Director of the American Chamber of Commerce of Brazil. He has also worked for the Brazilian Federal Administration and state government of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, as a Writer-in-Chief and a Senior editor.
Mauro was one of the founders of the Press Observatory (Observatório da Imprensa), a publication that served to analyze and qualify the Brazilian media content for more than 20 years.
Alexandra Akira, sustainability creative strategist

Alexandra Akira is a Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary Generals Office for Partnerships and the SG’s Youth Envoy.  She began her work with the United Nations in 2010 and has partnerships with all 57 United Nations Agencies including UNICEF, UNEP, UNDP, UNCTAD, The Global Compact, WHO, PAHO, UN Water, UN Women and the Office of Legal Affairs for Oceans.

Alexandra is the CEO of Model UN Impact (MUN Impact) that supports all youth led engagement programs that simulate the United Nations through Model UN organized conferences. 

Alexandra attended the University of Connecticut and the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she resides.

Fernanda is a seasoned marketing professional that has helped companies in a wide range of segments to transform their communication through digital platforms for over 13 years.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication and Media Studies, Master’s degree in Production Engineering, Certifications in Project Management, User Experience, and Business & Management of Entertainment.
Kana Takahashi, creative and content branding consultant

Seasoned Creative Director & Senior Brand Manager, with demonstrated success working in tech, entertainment, and retail. Skilled in building a creative team, developing brand strategy, art direction, and typography. Particularly strong in managing & growing creatives and project management.

Currently working as a business marketing project manager at Instagram, prior Ms. Takahashi was as director and manager of brand and marketing for three years at Google, and four years at Marris Collective LLC.

Kana has worked as a Motion Picture Graphic Designer & Art Department Coordinator at Fox Searchlight Pictures and Sony Pictures. As a senior graphic designer, Ms. Takahashi held positions at Aquent, Gap and Bare Minerals.
